• John has over 25 years' tax law experience, specialising in UK and UAE tax, and with worldwide international tax experience. Prior to setting up his own tax consultancy practice, John spent 11 years as head of Asia-Pac tax at ADIA, a significant Abu Dhabi based sovereign wealth fund, and 12 years at Clifford Chance LLC (CC LLP). John provides UAE, UK and international tax consultancy services to law firms (requiring specialist tax input on their client transactions, e.g., structuring, tax due diligence reviews, transaction document input), sovereign funds, family offices, companies and individuals.

• CC LLP (2001-12): 12 years' 'Magic Circle' tax experience (London 10 years and Dubai 2 years): securitisations; M&A tax; tax structured finance; restructurings; setting up/ leading CC LLP's Gulf tax practice.
• Barclays Bank PLC (2005-6): lead tax responsibility for Barclaycard (structuring UK and cross border joint ventures with Barclaycard's retail partners) and Treasury.
• ADIA (2012-23): Head of Asia-Pac tax in ADIA's Legal Division; responsible for structuring ADIA's illiquid investments (Infrastructure, Private Equity, Real Estate, Hospitality); setting up/ leading the VAT team; responsible for drawing up tax infrastructure at ADIA, e.g., tax policies and procedures.
• GowerTax (2023-). Establishing a UAE-based tax consultancy business in 2023.
• INSEAD. INSEAD qualified in the provision of independent director services (IDP).
• CIOT. Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation for over 20 years.
